Our Program
The immersion method is used providing the opportunity of learning Spanish and the cultures of Latin America. We specialize in working with each student naturally to develop Spanish language skills.
Language proficiency or linguistic proficiency is the ability of an individual to speak or perform in an acquired language. Fluency and language competence are generally recognized as being related. Proficient speakers demonstrate both accuracy and fluency. We understand and incorporate these principles into the teaching program and that allows our students to able to communicate well with native Spanish speakers. More about proficiency. The International Scale is used by many schools to determine the level of fluency ranges from 0 (beginner) to 5 (bilingual). Level 3 (our intermediate) is a good goal for most people and it is our goal as well!
Many students assume a regular track of study, spreading out the program over a little more than a year and a half. In other cases, students study more intensively to achieve their goals earlier. Ultimately, our goal is that students will be able to reach a professional working proficiency to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversations on practical, social, and professional topics. Discussions of particular interests and special fields of competence will be with reasonable ease with comprehension and at a normal rate of speech. Vocabulary will be broad enough that he or she rarely has to grope for a word. Good grammar control with understanding is promoted. Conversing with native Spanish speakers will be natural.
